Doll Museum

Unique in Bulgaria and one of the few in Europe, the Varna Puppet Museum was opened in 1985. The exhibition showcases nearly 140 theatrical puppets along with elements of stage sets. After a hiatus from 1990 to 2002, the collection was reassembled by the artist Tsvetana Vekova. The museum warmly welcomes visitors with the unique puppets created by the theater’s founder, Georgi Saravanov. Following them, younger “colleagues” from 24 iconic theater productions performed between 1952 and 2002 join the captivating display. Their medals and awards are displayed in three showcases. The exhibition brings together the creative efforts of authors, directors, actors, artists, and designers. It traces different techniques, styles, and trends in this distinctive form of applied art, highlighting the signature work of leading Bulgarian stage designers such as architect Ivan Tsonev, Maya Petrova, Lyubomir Tsakev, Maya Kuzova, Anna Pulieva, Angel Nedelchev, Kosta Ortodoksov, Petya Stoykova, Encho Avramov, Vasil Rokomanov, and others. The Puppet Museum is located very close to Varna’s Central pedestrian zone. Address: 5 Sheynovo Street Phone: +359 52 608 172 Mobile: +359 885 12 40 12 Email: kas_@abv.bg
